Noah's Ark Scans footage said to show voids near a "hull" at Durupınar
· by Noah's Ark Scans
Newsweek reported footage from Noah's Ark Scans that the group says shows a possible cavity and a distinct band matching a wooden hull at the lower end of the Durupınar formation.
What is claimed
The group says the drilling shows a hull-like layer of different material from the surrounding mud, as expected from a wooden hull.
What is established
No laboratory identification of the layer, carbon-14 date or peer-reviewed report had been published by 5 November.
Details
Newsweek (Jordan King, 4 November) says the group posted the video on Monday 2 November, that the clip was filmed on 9 September, and that Jones expects a final report in late April or May 2027; Newsweek said it had not reviewed the scans and could not verify the interpretation, and cited the US Geological Survey on groundwater held naturally above low-permeability beds. A caption circulating with the footage on X from 3 November says that late in the 2026 season the team drilled where earlier scans showed a band following the boat's outline, reached water at about 18 feet, drilled to 24 feet and saw a possible cavity at about 15 to 16 feet. It says the layer "looks like the inner surface of the hull" and that the team still needs to determine what the outer layer is made of. Newsweek's video page would not load directly (paywall). This tracker found no copy of the clip on the group's own X account in this window.
