Andrew Jones tells Charisma he rejects a "100%" claim and expects excavation permits

· by Andrew Jones

In a Charisma interview Andrew Jones said the case for Durupınar is strong but "not at 100", described threats and a break-in, and said he expects excavation permits sooner rather than later.

What is claimed

Jones says the data is "leading to 100%" but "not at 100", and that permits for excavation may come within a year or two.

What is established

No laboratory results had been published by 4 November, and no excavation permit had been granted that this tracker could confirm.

Details

Published 1 November and missed in the 2 November sweep, so added here. Jones said 12 holes were drilled inside the formation and four outside, some reaching about 20 metres, producing nearly 400 soil samples; the permit allowed 75 metres. He said radar reached about 95 metres and that Bakhtar told him the patterns were "not natural". He recounted threats at his apartment and a break-in in which drives, a laptop and cameras were taken, and said "it could just be thugs". He said he would reassess if no man-made activity turned up after two seasons, that a broader release of findings is expected after the winter, and that excavation could start next summer. His claims about depth, sample numbers and the break-in rest on his account.
