Baptist Press reports hope and caution from a seminary archaeologist and Ken Ham
· by Baptist Press
Baptist Press reported that Jim Parker of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary backs the drilling approach but wants peer review before any claim, while Ken Ham said Answers in Genesis does not accept the site.
What is claimed
Supporters say the drilling and radar work is a sound way to gather evidence; the article frames the question as still open.
What is established
The 2026 drilling and radar findings have not been peer reviewed, and no laboratory date for the wood had been published as of 4 November.
Details
Scott Barkley's article (3 November) says Parker called the team's methods "an excellent way to recover evidence", citing twelve core holes inside the formation and four outside and a planned 2027 excavation season; those particulars are Parker's account of what he had read, not confirmed by the project in this article. Parker also said "there is a steep curve to proof" and recommended no claims about the site's identity until the evidence is analysed and peer reviewed. Ken Ham said Answers in Genesis does not believe the Ark has been found at Durupınar. The article describes the stones at the site as drogue stones and the crosses on them as later additions by Armenian Christians, which is the site advocates' reading.
