Collins and Fasold paper calls Durupınar a common geologic structure

· by Lorence G. Collins, David Fasold

Geologist Lorence Collins and David Fasold concluded in the Journal of Geoscience Education that the formation is a natural doubly plunging syncline and the "anchor" stones are local andesite.

What is claimed

Proponents describe metal-braced walls, an iron bracket, fossilised gopherwood and drogue anchor stones.

What is established

The paper found the supposed bracket and walls are weathered volcanic minerals and natural limonite/magnetite concentrations, the "bark" is metamorphosed peridotite, and the stones are local andesite.
